WHO pledges further support for Vietnam

(VOVworld)-Vietnam looks forward to more support from the World Health Organization (WHO) to upgrade its healthcare network, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a reception for WHO Director General Margaret Chan in Hanoi on Monday. Mr. Phuc applauded the WHO’s cooperation with Vietnam over the past years.

Ms. Chan recommended that Vietnam accelerate the training of general practitioners, particularly family doctors, to improve the quality of primary health care. She suggested that Vietnam should establish an independent agency to assess the quality of medicine and new medical technologies. The WHO chief affirmed that her organization will continue to help Vietnam’s health sector.
