Ebola virus disease has killed nearly 900 people in western Africa since February.

The meeting followed the World Bank giving 200 million USD in aid to Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone in the fight against the virus, for which no vaccine has been created so far. The meeting aimed to decide whether to upgrade the Ebola virus to the status of “international emergency” or not, and whether to apply preventive measures, including restricting the travel of people from infected nations.
In an effort to prevent the Ebola virus’s spread, the WHO last Friday launched a 100-million-USD program, sending hundreds of health specialists to the infected nations in western Africa.
