The festival features solemn traditional rituals to honor ancestors and to pray for happiness and prosperity, as well as for a safe and profitable fishing season. It includes folk games and cultural performances. 

Huynh Hung, Director of Da Nang city’s Department of Culture and Sports, said: “The festival is 100-year-old. Today, the event retains its traditional values and contributes to local cultural uniqueness. As Thanh Khe district receives a certificate in recognition of Whale Worship Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage, we pledge to continue preserve our tradition.”
