The program aims to raise awareness within the community about the importance of filial piety in life, said Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Head of the Organizing Committee of the program.
Quang said, "Vu Lan, or Filial piety, is a holiday for Buddhists and a widely celebrated festival for non-Buddhists. It expresses gratitude and appreciation for parents, and honors those who have made significant contributions to the country."
