They also expressed optimism on measures to control inflation presented by the Prime Minister. Nguyen Trong Thinh from the Academy of Finance said: “This ambitious growth target requires the concerted effort of all agencies and sectors. Industry and service will continue to be the engine for economic development in the near future. A 7.4% growth in the third quarter has boosted our hopes for 6.7% growth for the whole year”.

Voters also paid special attention to the target of capping inflation at around 4% in 2017. Tran Huu Hung from Hanoi said: “Prices of essential commodities such as electricity, fuel, and safe water should be stabilized and reasonable. This will help ease the burden for low-income people”.
