Al-Qaeda gunmen killed two Yemeni senior officers in Sanaa on Tuesday, said Yemen’s interior ministry. Colonel Salem Ghorbani of the Republican Guard was killed near a military barracks in northern Sanaa. Thirty minutes later, Brigadier Fahdel al-Zahairy was shot in central Sanaa. Masked gunmen on motorcycles a common Al-Qaeda method, carried out the attacks. The Yemen army has opened attacks on Eyal Saeed tribal members in the Habab valley, 140km east of Sanaa. At least 11 people have been killed in the fighting, including four government soldiers. Tribal members have been targeting oil and gas pipelines in Yemen. According to official statistics, sabotage of oil pipelines in East Yemen has caused losses of more than 1 billion USD this year and reduced oil exports 4.5%.
