At a regular press conference for the third quarter in Hanoi, Bui Huy Son, Director of the Financial Planning Department said that in the remaining months of the year, the sector will focus on ways to tap the domestic market, stimulate consumption and tourism, develop e-commerce, and achieve the Government's GDP growth target of over 7% for 2024.

“First, we need to ensure the stability of the domestic market, especially for essential goods, electricity, and gasoline. Second, we’ll implement consumer stimulation programs to support businesses in implementing promotional programs, directly organizing international fairs and exhibitions,” said Son.

He added, “The Ministry has made a great effort to develop e-commerce, a consumer channel worth 20 billion USD a year. Finally, we’ll encourage development, but always include inspection and supervision methods with the involvement of market management forces and functional agencies.”

According to the Ministry, consumer demand in major markets like the US, the EU, and Japan is forecast to increase. Son said solutions have been devised to support exports to traditional and new markets.

“The Ministry continues to implement solutions to support exporters, including promoting export programs through official channels. We’ll work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to negotiate agreements with major export markets for our agricultural and aquatic products. The Ministry continues to negotiate and sign free trade agreements to open up stable, high-incentive markets,” said Son.
