Vietnam’s socio-economic performance improves in first eight months

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Saturday that Vietnam’s socio-economic performance in the first eight months of this year has improved compared to the same period last year, with stable macroeconomic fundamentals, inflation under control, growth promoted, and major balances ensured.

He was speaking while chairing the Government’s regular August meeting. The Prime Minister, however, noted rising inflation, exchange and interest rates, as well as slowing domestic consumption, exports, and public investment. He also pointed to challenges in operating the two-tier local government model, particularly in digital transformation.

Emphasizing that Vietnam must achieve a  this year, the Prime Minister urged the renewal of traditional growth drivers alongside the development of new ones to ensure comprehensive and sustainable growth. He stressed the need to cut time and costs for administrative procedures by 30%.
