A representative of the Ministry said at a conference on Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City that Vietnam's rice export in the first quarter recorded growth in both traditional markets such as the Philippines and China and potential markets such as Chile and Singapore. Vietnamese rice met the strict requirements of the EU market and posted a growth rate of 11% compared to last year.
According to the Department of Crop Production, the price of exported rice is hovering around 557 USD per ton, up nearly 6% over the same period last year and the highest in the past two years.
