He particularly commended President Trump and ASEAN Chair Malaysia for facilitating dialogue and the signing of a peace deal between Cambodia and Thailand.
Speaking at the 13th ASEAN-US Summit in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, Prime Minister Chinh described the US as one of ASEAN’s most comprehensive strategic partners and proposed four key directions to further advance ASEAN-US cooperation in a more substantive and effective manner.
These include enhancing economic, trade, and investment connectivity toward balanced and sustainable growth; promoting digital transformation, innovation, and energy security; strengthening cybersecurity and combating transnational crimes - building on the US’s initiative on online scam prevention and Vietnam’s initiative on enhancing international manhunt cooperation; and intensifying joint efforts to maintain peace, security, and stability in the region.
At the end of the summit, ASEAN and US leaders adopted a joint vision statement for a stronger, safer, and more prosperous region.
