Five hospitals in Hanoi have been chosen for isolation and treatment of patients. The first suspected case of MERS will be sent to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases, which is one of two medical facilities in Vietnam equipped with an international-standard laboratory. Nguyen Van Kinh is the Director of National Hospital of Tropical Diseases: “Our laboratory gives test results after 4 hours. We now have 12 machines and all of them are in good condition. We reserve at least 2 rooms for isolation, but if there are more cases all emergency rooms and even the entire hospital will be used for isolation.”

Ho Chi Minh City has selected 3 hospitals for isolation and treatment of suspected MERS cases. Le Manh Hung is Deputy Head of the Tropical Disease Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City: “We reserved 50 beds for the isolation and treatment of MERS patients. We’ve prepared more than 1,000 sets of protective clothing. The hospital’s staff have the experience to prevent dangerous epidemics. We have reserved enough medicines to prevent the disease.”
