In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency ahead of Sunday’s vote, he said the election is not only a constitutional process but also a means to ensure that policies adopted at national and local levels are implemented with a focus on serving the people.

Ambassador Gass noted that clear and timely information for citizens is essential to mobilize public support and to ensure that development efforts translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives.

He said that although Switzerland  and Vietnam have different systems, public participation and trust remain central to a successful development process.
