Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung highlighted Vietnam’s rich historical heritage, diverse and unique traditions, and achievements in the US-Vietnam relations.

There were presentations on Vietnam’s economy, trade-investment opportunities and a showcase of traditional Vietnamese clothing and cuisine of Hanoi and Hue.

Gregory Bland, CEO of Things To Do DC, co-organizer of the event together with the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, said American guests were eager to learn more about Vietnam's people and culture.

"I have always had a particular interest in it. Of course, I grew up in an area where Vietnam was on everybody's mind. It was very historical. There's a lot of mysteries about Vietnam. When I was much younger, all I knew about it was the conflict in Vietnam that took place 50 years ago."

"Having learned about Vietnam, and now having met many diplomats, many Vietnamese, I learned that Vietnam is a wonderful and incredible country to visit. I went there myself in 1999. I had a wonderful stay while I was there," Bland said.
