Vietnamese peacekeepers in South Sudan praised

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is willing to further contribute to the UN’s peace keeping mission in South Sudan through implementing and participating in support activities and connecting with the local community.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations, made the statement at Friday’s meeting, the first of its kind in 2023, of the UN Security Council in New York with representatives of 79 countries sending troops to the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

Mr. Giang noted that female peacekeepers play a very important role in the mission.

Meeting with Ambassador Giang, Nicholas Haysom, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMISS, spoke highly of the contributions, creativity, efforts to overcome difficulties, and high sense of discipline of the medics and soldiers of Vietnam’s Level 2 Field Hospital and peacekeeping police at the UNMISS.
