Addressing the conference, Party General Secretary To Lam said the 14th National Party Congress, held in Hanoi from January 19 to 23, was a great success and marked an important milestone in the 96-year history of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as in Vietnam’s millennia-long national history.
The Congress elected a 200-member Party Central Committee, including 180 full members and 20 alternate members. At its first meeting, the 14th Party Central Committee elected the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, and completed the consolidation of other key Party leadership bodies.

The Congress also adopted decisions of historic significance aimed at successfully realizing the two centenary strategic goals set out by the 13th National Party Congress.
Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed confidence that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by Party General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnamese people will continue to achieve even greater accomplishments in the renewal process and successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, advancing toward the goal of a prosperous people and a strong, democratic, equitable, and civilized nation.
