More than 2,000 overseas Vietnamese in the country attended the event along with representatives from the two governments. Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son addressed the event ‘The inauguration of the headquarters proves that the solidarity and friendship between the two peoples and the relations have been further consolidated and developed as the wish of Thai King and Queen and both governments. We hope that the Vietnamese community in Thailand will become a typical model which should be replicated in other countries around the world.

Assistant to the Thai Education Minister, Suwat Tanipat spoke highly of the role and contributions of the Vietnamese community over the past years, adding that the establishment of their headquarters will offer more opportunities for them to do for the host country’s development and to strengthen the bilateral relations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Son conferred the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs’ insignia on Vietnamese and Thai nationals, recognizing their contributions in developing the fine relations between Vietnam and Thailand.
