Mr. Man told IPU President Duarte Pacheco that since Vietnam became an IPU member in 1979, it has responsibly participated in its activities. He said that Vietnam’s hosting of the upcoming IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians once again affirms Vietnam’s commitments and its close attention to the role of the youth in global issues.

Mr. Pacheco said that the IPU and the Vietnamese NA share a common commitment to a better world, and said he believes Vietnam will continue to be a responsible member of the IPU, contributing valuable ideas to the union and willing to perform tasks for the IPU in the future.

Ms. Sounthone expressed her desire to collaborate with Vietnam and Cambodia in organising the first meeting of Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam parliament leaders in December. She asked for the Vietnamese NA’s support for the Lao NA in fulfilling its tasks as the AIPA Chair next year.
