During talks in Tianjin on Tuesday, PM Pham Minh Chinh and Premier Li Qiang reached a shared understanding to effectively implement common perceptions between the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, and to translate the outcomes of recent high-level exchanges into concrete results.
PM Chinh, who is in China for the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF Tianjin 16) and bilateral activities, suggested that the two sides maintain regular high-level exchanges, promote cooperation in defense, infrastructure, economics, science, technology and other areas, and accelerate three standard-gauge railway projects linking Vietnam and China, ensuring that construction of the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong line will begin in December.
He asked China to help Vietnam develop a modern railway industry by providing support in capital, technology transfer, and personnel training.
For more balanced and sustainable bilateral trade, PM Chinh proposed that China increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural products, strengthen electricity grid connectivity, speed up the construction of smart border gates, and study the pilot model of cross-border economic cooperation zones.
Premier Li Qiang expressed his hope that both countries will successfully organize the 17th meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, as well as the strategic dialogue mechanism among the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security, and National Defense.
He affirmed that China is ready to strengthen strategic development connectivity with Vietnam and values Vietnam’s desire to commence the standard-gauge railway projects soon.
Premier Li said China’s readiness to expand imports of more high-quality Vietnamese goods and to encourage capable enterprises to invest in Vietnam in fields such as AI, digital economy, green economy, next-generation 5G, and satellite applications.
Both leaders also exchanged views on maritime issues, agreeing to effectively manage and handle differences to maintain peace and stability.
