During the talks, the two leaders agreed that the intergovernmental committee on economic, trade and scientific cooperation will soon convene this year to pave the way for new areas of cooperation and boosting market facilitation for each other's goods.

They urged for greater efforts to implement the European Commission’s recommendations on sustainable fisheries development, and hoped that Bulgaria will prompt the EC to remove the  illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU)  "yellow card" warning against Vietnamese seafood.

The two countries need to maintain exchanges of high-level delegations of the National Assembly, National Assembly Agencies, and Friendship Parliamentary Groups in the coming time, they said.

Chairman Hue and Speaker Jeliazkov described local cooperation as a unique feature of the two countries and an opportunity for the people to cooperate better in all fields. Both have promoted cooperation between localities such as Sophia with Capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Varna and Da Nang, Ruse and Can Tho, Sumen and Thanh Hoa, Pleven and Son La, Veliko Tarnovo and Hue and most recently Vinh Phuc and Pernik.

The Bulgarian side wanted further trade cooperation with Vietnam in high technology, pharmaceuticals, information technology, creativity, and tourism, while Bulgaria will share experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations, anti-hackers, and support Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of mines and bombs.

National Assembly Chairman Hue proposed that Bulgaria create more convenience in granting visas to Vietnamese citizens and that the two Governments soon sign a government-level agreement to create favorable conditions for businesses to implement labor cooperation projects in Bulgaria, especially in healthcare, construction, garments and agriculture.

After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation document between Lai Chau city and Kardzhali city.
