The delegation comprises 164 members, including 127 athletes, who will compete in 8 sports out of total 13 sports of the Games: track-and-field, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and boccia.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong expressed his hope that the athletes will conquer the region's largest sports arena for the disabled with their utmost determination, exchange and learn experience, and overcome headwinds.
Their participation will also convey to international friends the image of the peaceful and friendly Vietnamese country and people, he said.
“I hope all officials, coaches and athletes of the Vietnam Disabled People's Sports Delegation are fully aware of the responsibility as well as the honor and pride entrusted to them by the Fatherland, to fulfill their tasks well at the Games.”
At the send-off ceremony, the Vietnam delegation received sponsorship from Herbalife Vietnam Co., Ltd, the main sponsor, and some others. ASEAN Para Games 12 will take place from June 3 to 9 in Cambodia.
