Vietnamese antiquities to be sold at auction

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese antiquities and art treasures with great historical and cultural value will be auctioned on August 19 in Hanoi, marking the first time a professional auction company has been authorized by the Hanoi People’s Committee to sell Vietnamese antiquities.

At a Monday press conference, the No.5 National Auction JSC announced three unique antiquities on the auction block: a 2,000-year-old bronze vessel of the Dong Son culture; a ceramic jar with brown patterns from the Tran Dynasty of the 13th  century, and an enamel box of the royal family from the mid-19th century Nguyen Dynasty. The company said the starting price of the Dong Son vessel will be about 43,700 USD, of the Tran Dynasty jar about 32,500 USD, and of the Nguyen Dynasty box about 23,500 USD.

In addition to these antiquities, two star ruby gemstones found in Yen Bai province will also be auctioned. Their starting price will be at 74,700 USD. The organizers said the star ruby is one of the rarest gemstones in the world.
