The total for the first 2 months was 2.8 million, 30% more than last year. Most of the visitors were from Asian countries like China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Taiwan (China), Malaysia, and Thailand.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism plans to serve 78 million domestic tourists and 17 million foreigners, and earn 27.3 billion USD this year. Tourism hopes to soon become a spearhead sector, as instructed by the Politburo.
