At a meeting with Nauru’s President Baron Divavesi Waqa in Hanoi on Thursday, President Quang said since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 2006, they have not signed any specific cooperation agreements and have not set up their representative offices in other country. President Quang praised visits by Nauru delegations to Vietnam to learn experience in rice and cash crop production, aquaculture, and telecommunications. He proposed the two countries boost cooperation in economics, security, national defense, education, and tourism. President Baron Divavesi Waqa expressed his wish to strengthen ties with Vietnam and support for Vietnam’s bid to become a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure.

At a meeting with outgoing Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam Siren Gjerme Eriksen the same day, President Quang said Norway is one of Vietnam’s important partners in northern Europe. He asked the diplomat to continue contributing to the Vietnam-Norway ties.
