(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will temporarily suspend unilateral visa exemptions for citizens from Belarus, Russia, and Japan effective on Saturday to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry said on Thursday that visa exemptions granted to Belarusian, Russian and Japanese citizens of Vietnamese origin and their relatives will also be temporarily halted.

Diplomatic and official passport holders from the three countries will not be affected by this decision. Citizens of those countries who hold ordinary passports will still be allowed to enter Vietnam if they have a proper visa.
