To honor General Khamtay Siphandone and the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold a two-day national mourning on April 4-5, 2025.

During this time, all government agencies, public offices nationwide, and Vietnamese representative offices abroad will fly the national flag at half-mast with mourning ribbons. Public celebrations and entertainment activities will be suspended.
