Speaking at the 35th Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in New York, Ambassador Viet said that grounding marine management in science and technology would help ensure equitable access to tools and resources needed for the effective use of marine assets.

According to the diplomat, the Vietnamese delegation had outlined its positions on the implementation of the convention. These included the peaceful resolution of international disputes, Vietnam’s submission concerning the outer limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles in the central part of the East Sea, and its ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation on marine and ocean protection.
