(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam welcomed 250,000 German tourists last year, and 140,000 Germans have visited Vietnam so far this year, 16% more than in the same period last year, according to Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, at a tourism promotion event in Munich on June 30.

The event, hosted by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Tourism Development Fund and the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, was part of Vietnam’s effort to promote tourism in the European market through the “Visit Vietnam Year – Hue 2025” campaign, new tourism trends, direct flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, and closer connections between Vietnamese and German travel firms.

Sieu called the figures a positive signal and clear evidence of the potential for tourism exchanges between Vietnam and Germany.

He said: "The European market has been a traditional tourism market for Vietnam, and we frequently engage in efforts to attract visitors from Europe. This program is part of our promotional activities here."

Cultural tourism activities in Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, and Ninh Binh have made visitors more familiar with Vietnam’s history, remarkable architecture, and rich culture.
Island and coastal destinations like Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Quy Nhon are growing in popularity among German tourists. Vietnam’s tourism industry continues to diversify its offerings, enhance service quality, and preserve its cultural heritage, to provide German and European travelers with a memorable experience.
