Vietnam seeks US business community’s support for reciprocal trade pact, deepened economic ties

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has called on the US business community to continue to support Vietnam in negotiating a reciprocal trade agreement with the US.

At a meeting with Jeffrey Perlman, CEO of Warburg Pincus Investment Fund and Chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) on Monday as part of his working visit to the US, Minister Dien also asked for cooperation in promoting Vietnam’s investment and business potential to US partners.

Perlman said Warburg Pincus is committed to long-term investment in Vietnam and will be a positive voice for Vietnam in bilateral economic and trade relations.

The two sides discussed potential areas of cooperation, including energy, industry, digital transformation, green transition, logistics, and supply chain development. The USABC is committed to supporting Vietnam in its efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability and sustainable development.

The same day, Minister Dien worked with leaders of the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) and leading US textile, garment and footwear enterprises including Gap, Levis Strauss, Hanesbrands, and Under Amour.
