President Putin appreciated the significance and outcomes of the Vietnamese legislative leader’s visit, and suggested the two countries’ legislative bodies continue enhancing their cooperation, contributing to promoting the Russia-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership in a pragmatic and effective manner.
He also pledged support for the legislatures to effectively implement their signed cooperation agreements.
Earlier the same day, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), and Sergey Mironov, Chairman of A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth (SR) party.
At these meetings, the NA leader expressed gratitude for the invaluable and sincere support provided by the Soviet Union, now the Russian Federation, during Vietnam's past struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as in its current development efforts. He stressed that the bilateral relationship continues to strengthen through high-level exchanges, including the recent state visit to Vietnam by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Talking to Zyuganov, Man proposed enhancing the cooperation via the party channel between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the KPRF, and other major Russian political parties.
Zyuganov praised Vietnam's development achievements as a successful model for other countries and affirmed his commitment to maintaining the traditional friendship with Vietnam. He pledged to continue working closely with the CPV and the Vietnamese people.
At his meeting with Mironov, Man stated the Vietnamese NA supports the enhancement of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive cooperation, and has been coordinating with the government to address issues that hinder joint work and to seriously consider Russia's proposals to deepen and make the bilateral collaboration more effective and substantial.
The NA leader also suggested the CPV and SR continue to support each other at regional and international forums.
He called for the Russian party’s support for the principled stance of Vietnam and ASEAN on the East Sea issue, as well as for the peaceful settlement of disputes based on international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). He also sought the party's continued assistance for the Vietnamese community in Russia via facilitating their legal residence and integration, saying that the community will serve as a bridge for bilateral people-to-people exchanges and the comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries.
Mironov said Vietnam stands out as the only Southeast Asian nation that has welcomed President Vladimir Putin on six separate occasions. He also expressed condolences over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and highlighted the lasting memories of the late leader as a great friend of the Russian people.
