Vietnam, Russia agree to boost future economic, trade ties

Shuvalov in Hanoi on Wednesday where the two agreed to closer economic and trade ties between Vietnam and Russia. They also agreed to speed up ratification of the Vietnam-Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement to boost cooperation in economics and trade between Vietnam and EAEU countries, and between Vietnam and Russia. Their discussions included Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant No.1 and other oil, gas, and electricity projects.

The two leaders proposed new cooperative projects in Russia, Vietnam, and other countries. They talked about possible cooperation in mining, finance, banking, information, communications, science, technology, education, and training.

As of October, 2015, Russia had 113 FDI projects in Vietnam with a combined capital of 2 billion USD, ranking 17th of 101 countries and territories currently investing in Vietnam. Russia ranks 3rd among countries that Vietnam is investing in, with 20 projects worth a total of 2.5 billion USD.
