(VOVworld) – In response to reporters’ query on Vietnam’s reaction to China’s activities on Hoang Sa archipelago such as Chinese officials inaugurating Xinhua bookstore on Phu Lam (Woody) island, China bringing tourists to the archipelago and China’s plan to hold a fishing competition there, Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on Tuesday said: “Vietnam confirms its indisputable sovereignty over Hoang Sa archipelago. China’s moves have seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereignty and run against the principles to resolve sea-related issues between Vietnam and China. These moves do not abide by the ASEAN-China Joint Statement commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the Eats Sea (DOC) and violate the DOC, causing tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea. We ask China to end its wrongful acts and not to affect peace and stability in the East Sea.”

The same day, Chairman of Da Nang city’s People’s Committee Van Huu Chien talked about China bringing tourists to Hoang Sa archipelago: “Hoang Sa archipelago is an island district of Da Nang, an inseparable part of Vietnam’s territory. China bringing tourists to Hoang Sa violates Vietnam’s sovereignty and causes resentment among the administration and people of Da Nang. We protest this illegal act and ask China to immediately end its tourism and other activities on Hoang Sa archipelago.”
