Vietnam records no new COVID-19 cases, tightens border control

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has no new cases of COVID-19 to report over the last 12 hours to 6am on Wednesday, keeping the national tally at 2,857, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the total number, 1,571 cases were locally infected.

A total of 2,516 patients have been given the all-clear from COVID-19 so far, while the death toll related to the disease remains at 35.

At a recent meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is also head of the committee, underscored the need to go ahead with COVID-19 response measures and pointed out the high risk of pandemic spreading from neighboring nations and transmissions through entrants into Vietnam.

According to the Expanded National Immunization Program, 318,792 frontline healthcare workers along with members of community-based anti-COVID-19 groups had been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine from March 8 to Tuesday.
