Vietnam records 8,652 new infections of COVID-19 on Monday

(VOVWORLD) - The Health Ministry confirmed 8,652 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, raising the national count to more than 283,000. 
HCM city continued to lead the caseload with 3,341 infections, followed by its neighboring provinces of Binh Duong (2,522) and Long An (599). Hanoi reported 50 new cases. 
Since the latest cornavirus wave hit Vietnam in late April, the country has recorded nearly 280,000 cases including more than 104,000 recoveries.
6 localities have  gone through 14 consecutive days with no new infections: Quang Ninh, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, and Hai Phong. 
HCM city remains the largest COVID-19 hotspot in Vietnam with more than 152,000 cases.
