Mr. Ha was speaking on Tuesday while hosting a reception for a delegation of agriculture ministers and senior officials attending a high-level interregional forum on the One Commune One Product (OCOP) model, jointly organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The Deputy PM called on FAO and participating countries to join Vietnam in building a joint initiative endorsed by high-ranking leaders to ensure that the benefits of international agricultural cooperation reach everyone.
Praising Vietnam’s achievements in agricultural development, FAO Deputy Director-General Beth Bechdol said Vietnam’s OCOP initiative helps to diversify local agricultural products, improve quality, standardize production, develop markets, and create opportunities for countries to share their experience. The OCOP program also plays an important role in integrating cultural values and indigenous knowledge.
The high-level interregional forum on the One Commune One Product (OCOP) model was held in Hanoi on Tuesday, bringing together Ministers of Agriculture and senior officials from 17 Asian and African countries (Bhutan, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tunisia, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe).
