Vietnam ready to assume role of non-permanent member of UNSC

(VOVWORLD) - On Wednesday, Vietnam will assume the role of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020-2021 tenure.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnam Permanent Mission to the UN, said that Vietnam will try to protect its own interests as well as global peace and security and maintain good relationships with other countries.  

Viet Nam was elected to the Security Council in June by a vote of 192 to 1. This is the second time Vietnam has been elected a non-permanent member of the council. The first time was in 2008-2009.
