Vietnam pursues foreign policy of contributing to world peace, development

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam's foreign policy aims to contribute to world peace and development, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung told reporters about the outcomes of Party General Secretary To Lam’s trip to Washington D.C., the US, to attend the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace on Thursday and Friday.

FM Trung said that General Secretary Lam's trip affirmed Vietnam's active and responsible contribution to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, as well as its active and responsible contribution to resolving common regional and international issues, which will promote Vietnam's relations with the host country and international partners, including Middle Eastern countries.

International press and public opinion applauded Vietnam and General Secretary Lam as founding member of the Gaza Board of Peace and the General Secretary's attendance at the Board’s inaugural meeting, the Vietnamese top diplomat said, adding that Vietnam's participation reflects its foreign policy of wanting to contribute to world peace and development, as well as the international recognition and respect for Vietnam's position and its ability to contribute.

At the meeting with US President Donald Trump, General Secretary To Lam shared Vietnam's development directions and foreign policy of continued promotion of relations with partners, including the host country, the United States, in accordance with the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

FM Trung added that Vietnam will conduct detailed studies and implement the roadmap for the Peace Plan, focusing on three major directions. They include stabilizing the situation in the Gaza Strip and ensuring ceasefire enforcement; implementing a long-term reconstruction process for the Gaza Strip; and building infrastructure and enhancing the administrative apparatus and governance capacity of Palestinians in the Gaza.

Vietnam can engage in humanitarian activities, reconstruction efforts, and continue to take part in or support efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, peace and stability in the Gaza Strip, and especially to ensure the fundamental national rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish their own state, the FM said.
