Hiep put forward two key proposals for action. First, promote investment in climate-resilient infrastructure and improve disaster risk data to identify suitable financial solutions for vulnerable areas. Second, increase international cooperation to mobilize resources for natural disaster prevention and control.
The deputy minister shared Vietnam’s experience to other countries who face similar challenges and called for closer collaboration between governments, the private sector, and international organizations to expand disaster risk transfer finance initiatives. He urged the UN to help the most vulnerable countries in Asia-Pacific to access funds.
