Vietnam prioritizes nuclear safety

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi made the statement at Thursday’s press conference in Hanoi ahead of the upcoming Nuclear Safety Summit in Seoul, which will be attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. “As an active and responsible member of the international community, Vietnam’s participation in the summit affirms our consistent policy of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and ensuring nuclear security and safety. Vietnam appreciates and is ready to expand cooperation with the international community in this domain. At the Seoul meeting, we will highlight what we have done to achieve maximum nuclear safety and will join hands with other countries to promote international cooperation in this field”, Nghi said.

The spokesperson also announced some major events to take place in Vietnam the near future, including the Hung Kings’ Temple Festival and the Da Nang International Firework Competition.
