(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday reviewed the first round of amnesty granted earlier this year on the occasion of National Reunification Day (April 30) and announced plans for a second round, scheduled to coincide with Vietnam’s 80th National Day (September 2).

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, who chairs the 2025 Amnesty Advisory Council, called on relevant agencies to promptly implement the process with transparency, fairness, and accuracy.

He stressed that no eligible individual should be overlooked, and no violations must occur during the review and approval phases. Mr. Binh also emphasized the importance of effective communication and post-release support to help pardoned individuals reintegrate into society, find stable employment, and rebuild their lives.

Each stage of the amnesty process, from orientation and training for officers to planning, implementation, and final review, must be methodical and disciplined, he said. “We should also closely monitor public sentiment and maintain security and order during the implementation.”

Since 2021, more than 9,200 individuals have been granted amnesty, with a notably low recidivism rate.
