During the exchange in Hanoi, participants visited the department’s training centre. Experts from New Zealand engaged with members of Engineering Unit Rotation 3 and Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 6 to collect data and design a psychological support program tailored for Vietnamese peacekeepers.
Members of the Vietnamese units exchanged lessons on mental and physical preparation for deployment and reintegration, and discussed experiences with the New Zealand side.
The Vietnamese side expressed its wish for New Zealand to continue offering staff and command training courses for Vietnamese officers to improve their capacity to qualify for positions at the UN Headquarters.
