Vietnam, New Zealand agree on increased coordination in multilateral mechanisms

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and New Zealand had a phone discussion on Friday about boosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in preparation for the APEC Summit Week in November.

Minister Bui Thanh Son and Minister Nanaia Mahuta discussed ways to enhance the bilateral ties, adding that they are satisfied with the development of the strategic partnership set up last July.

Mahuta spoke highly of Vietnam's recent achievements responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining socio-economic development. She thanked Vietnam for working closely with New Zealand and other APEC members to promote cooperation priorities during the APEC year 2021 which is hosted by New Zealand.

The two ministers agreed to continue coordination in multilateral cooperation mechanisms to which the two countries are members as well as mutually beneficial sharing of information and policies on education and training, agriculture, and response to climate change towards strengthening the Vietnam-New Zealand strategic partnership.
