Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Head of the Police Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue, who leads the team, recalled that at the scene, they continue to use radar and cameras to detect whether or not there is life.

“Then hydraulic cutting devices and concrete cutting equipment are used to coordinate with the forces of the US, Uzbekistan, and Turkey to carry out rescue missions and remove victims from the ruins,” said Khuong.

Earlier, the team completed the same task at two  other locations in Adiyaman city where buildings had completely collapsed, extracting six bodies and saving one teenager from the rubble.

Vietnamese rescuers also began work Tuesday in Antakya district, Hatay province. Vietnamese sappers coordinated with local rescue forces to locate victims and extricate bodies from the ruins. Among Turkey's 10 earthquake-affected localities, Hatay is one of the most-affected.

As of late Tuesday, the death toll in Turkey and Syria had surpassed 41,000. According to Turkey's disaster management agency, more than 6,400 buildings collapsed during two earthquakes and more than 430 aftershocks.
