Vietnam joins global action to protect children’s rights

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and 40 other countries have joined the voluntary global pledge “For every child, every right” to ensure that no one is left behind, and to help every child reach their full potential, said Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the UN on Wednesday.

He stressed the importance of education in nurturing and protecting children and preparing them for a better life, adding that Vietnam has made concerted efforts to ensure that children have the chance to study, even during wartime. Mr. Quy said Vietnam supports the UN Children’s Fund’s safe school environment program.

Ambassador Quy made the statement at a UN General Assembly meeting to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
