Five of these countries - Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Belarus - have been invited to send military contingents to participate in a parade to be held in this occasion.
At a meeting in Hanoi on Wednesday to prepare for the celebration, Senior Lieutenant General Chien said Cuba has confirmed the attendance of its Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. Laos and Cambodia have expressed support for sending military units to take part in the parade.
The parade invitation reflects the traditional friendship, solidarity, and close ties between the Vietnamese people and army and their longstanding international friends, and underscores Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, diversification, and being a trusted friend and partner of all nations.
For the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification, (April 30), military contingents from China, Laos, and Cambodia joined a parade at the invitation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence.
