Vietnam, IAEA cooperate in peaceful application of nuclear technology

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien highly valued the cooperation between the country and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in developing and applying nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

He made the assessment at a regular session of the IAEA Board of Governors that kicked off in Vienna capital, Austria, on Wednesday.

Addressing the discussion on the agency’s technical cooperation (TC) program, Ambassador Kien welcomed the IAEA's proposal of five cooperation projects with Vietnam within the TC framework, focusing on pandemic response, cancer treatment, sustainable agricultural development, and nuclear incident safety, security, and response, in the 2022 - 2023 period.

Vietnam attended the session as a member of the IAEA Board of Governors.
