In a recent interview with a VOV correspondents in Beijing, Professor Liu Ying at Renmin University of China, said that since gaining independence in 1945, Vietnam has gone through multiple phases of development, from post-war reconstruction to economic reform and international integration.

The launch of the renewal process in 1986 marked Vietnam’s transition to market-oriented reforms, which drove impressive economic growth and transformed the country from an agriculture-based economy into a rapidly emerging market with manufacturing and service industries, Ms. Liu said.

Vietnam will soon surpass 5,000 USD in per capita GDP, and eventually reach 10,000 USD in the coming years, joining the ranks of upper middle-income countries. This is of great importance, as it will improve peoples welfare – an essential goal that has guided Vietnams development over the past eight decades, with the vision of building a prosperous nation and a strong state,” she said.

Professor Liu expressed optimism about Vietnam’s development prospects as it strengthens ties with China and plays a growing role in ASEAN, East Asia, and the world. I believe Vietnams economic growth is dynamic and sustainable. Along with political and administrative reforms, Im confident that Vietnams socio-economic development will become increasingly advanced and of higher quality. The future outlook for Vietnam is full of potential.”
