(VOVWORLD) - Localities across Vietnam are working hard to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.

HCM city authorities have temporarily closed entertainment facilities since Sunday. Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan said on Monday that the city’s goal is to keep the number of infection cases from going above 100. The southern metropolis has so far had eight diagnosed cases. 3 of them have recovered.

The northern province of Lao Cai, home to the popular resort town of Sa Pa, will suspend all tourism and entertainment activities from Wednesday until the end of March.

Lao Cai’s neighboring province of Son La will set up a field hospital to fight Covid-19.

“Human resources play a key role in this battle. We’ll send health workers from the provincial general hospital to the field hospital,” Nguyen Thi Kim An, Director of the Son La Health Department, told VOV.

Authorities in the central province of Quang Tri will cut non-essential procurements to focus resources on the fight against Covid-19. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said: “Sufficient supply of medical materials will be secured. We are coordinating effectively with other agencies and updating them with the latest developments of the epidemic.”

By Tuesday, Vietnam had confirmed 66 Covid-19 cases.
