Mr. Phuc said it is necessary to stay calm but not be negligent so as to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.
“Fighting the disease is like fighting an enemy. The government always has a good grasp of the situation and prepares detailed plans of action to protect public health even at the expense of economic gain. The government is not passive in the battle to protect public health. Stronger measures are needed to deal with the epidemic more effectively,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to publicize information about the COVID-19 outbreak in a timely manner and ensure the supply of food and essential products for people. He asked customs, border guard, and border gate security forces, as well as airports, to control entry into the country more carefully and ensure safety for tourism activities.
As of Monday, Vietnam had confirmed 31 infection cases with 16 having recovered. The 15 latest cases, including 5 Vietnamese and 10 foreigners, have been put in quarantine.
