Addressing the conference, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong acknowledged the Government’s COVID-19 prevention and control measures, including the timely adoption of the ‘living safely with COVID’ strategy, in order to cushion the impact of the pandemic on business production and people’s livelihoods.

He praised the Government for its successful vaccine diplomacy strategy as Vietnam, from a place of low vaccination coverage, has emerged as one of the six countries with the highest vaccination rate in the world. 

The Party leader elaborated on this year’s targets and missions: “We need to focus on efficient implementation of the social economic development and recovery program in line with inflation control, macro-economic stabilization and major economic balancing."

"Business and investment climate should be further improved for rapid, sustainable and practical growth for solid changes in economic restructuring and strategic breakthrough for renewed growth models with better productivity, quality and economic competitiveness. National digital transformation should be accelerated with faster digital economy and society, green and circular economy in response to climate change,” Mr. Trong said. 

The Party leader emphasized cultural development in harmony with and on par with socio-economic development to keep improving people’s material and spiritual lives.
