Vietnam, EU mark 20-year cooperation in healthcare

(VOVworld) - The European Union (EU) has been an important partner of Vietnam’s Ministry of Health (MoH) over the past 20 years, said Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien at a ceremony in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-EU cooperation for improved health care.

Madam Tien said the two sides have worked towards a common goal: a fair health care system toward, efficient, and constantly developing that will improve the quality of care for all Vietnamese people.

She hailed the support the EU has provided to Vietnam’s programs and projects to improve health care services and apply relevant policies at all levels.

Neven Mimica, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, said the EU is strengthening cooperative ties with Vietnam by implementing the framework agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA) between Vietnam and EU and working toward an EU-Vietnam free trade agreement.

Neven reiterated the EU’s commitment to helping Vietnam reach the UN sustainable development goal in the healthcare field.
